Keeping the Faith

Do you ever have one of those days where it  just feels like it's too much? You know,  that day when it seems that nothing is going right and you wish you could just crawl back into bed and hide under the covers?!  We all have those kind of days every now and again, but it's the way we decide to deal with it that really shows who and what we are...

When it seems like the walls  are caving in, God gives us some great words of wisdom to lean on.  My favorite verse to remember is this:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares The Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to           harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Or Philippians 4:13 which reminds that "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength."

Psalm 29:11 " The Lord gives strength to his people; The Lord
blesses his people with peace."

I'm definitely  not saying that I never get discouraged or throw my own pity party (heck NO, I'd be lying to you!) What I'm saying is that I have to remind myself and work at keeping my trust in The Lord ! Remember that He is always looking out for me and for my best interest.  Despite my failures and my weaknesses he loves me SOOO much! Hallelujah,  now that's something to shout about!

So as many of us continue to be cursing  enjoying this winter cold, snow and ice and dark gloomy days I ask that we take a moment to remember that God is always in Control! He's always planning what's best for us and even in the tough days he's walking right there beside us!

I Did It!!

In January of 2011, I began a new journey and worked my fingers to the bone to succeed.

I decided that I was destined to be a teacher and more specifically a special education teacher.  I already had one degree in business, but why not go for two more,  right?! OY Vey!

After  countless hours of studying, hundreds of pages worth of writing, and tears of joy and sorrow---I did it! I finished! There were times that I wasn't sure I would ever get to the end, but with amazing friends and family encouraging me along and a determination that rivals that of a donkey, I did it.  Student teaching done, Praxis exams passed, and teaching portfolio completed!

Next stop is apply for licensure and get a "big girl" job! So this is the end of one chapter, but only the beginning of the story...

Snowmagedon 2014

I was only a baby when we had the Blizzard of '78 so I haven't seen this much white fluffy stuff, but I've definately seen enough now!

The first day we got 4" and that was manageable, but the next day... Lord help us! It as too  much!!

We ended up with a total of 12"!! For Hoosiers that's a lot of snow.  This means snow day #1.  Now comes the real fun stuff... subzero temperatures.  Now don't get me wrong, I realize that there are places that get more snow than us and there are places that get well belo zero... I didn't choose to live in one of those places for a reason!  Wait, maybe I did... temperatures of -10' and then with windchill it's -30'!! Holy Snow Day!! Insert Snow day number 2... and 3... and 4!! What the ***?!  I can honestly say that I've never missed school 4 days in a row because of snow and cold! Now when my kids think they've got it bad I'll  remind them that it's now January 8th and they've not been to school since December 20th!!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse... 5 days of no school!! Guess we'll be going until the summer this year!
